The Madras High Curt today constituted a three-member committee to prevent illegal sand quarrying at Palar river bed.
A PIL was filed by one Govindhan urging the court's intervention to prevent illegal quarrying at Palar river in Kanchipuram district.
The petition came up for hearing before Justice Mukodhpadhyaya and Paalvasantha Kumar.
After hearing the case, appointed
a 3-member committee consisting of two geologists and a PWD official and
submit a report before 8 October, 2007.
