MDMK general secretary Vaiko today said that the DMK government will not survive for its full term. He also said that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi is finding it very difficult to respond to the issues raised by PMK chief Dr S Ramadoss.
Presiding over a protest demonstration before the Chennai Collectorate, Vaiko said that increase in the guideline value for land registration will seriously affect the common man.
'This government has helped black marketers and the wealthy to make profit by doing this,' he said and urged the Tamilnadu government to immediately take back the revised guideline value. The MDMK chief also alleged that indiscriminate sand mining is going on throughout the State with the help of ruling party members. 'If this continues, it will only lead to the desertification of Tamilnadu,' he said and added that all the rights of the State is being given away on a platter. Referring to inter-State river water disputes between Tamilnadu and others, Vaiko charged that the government was doing nothing on Mullaiperiyar, Palar and Cauvery issues. 'Kerala has said that it will build a dam.
They are not prepared to give us our due share of water,' he said and wanted to know why Tamilnadu should send merchandise like rice, milk and vegetables. Pointing to the Tamizhar Desiya Movement (TDM) leader Pazha.Nedumaran's plea that the State should stop supply of commodities to Kerala, he said, MDMK supported the TDM leader's stand. 'Chief Minister Karunanidhi is now in a tight corner. He is not able to answer PMK leader's charges against the government on issues like sand mining,' the MDMK general secretary said and added that the government will not last for five years.
The protest demonstration
was organised to condemn the hike in guideline value, illegal sand quarrying,
exorbitant fee in self financing educational institutions. Mallai Sathya,
KS Radhakrishnan, and other leaders of MDMK participated.
