BJP leader takes on Ramadoss

NT Bureau
Chennai, Feb 22:

BJP State vice-president Kumaravel today posed a query to PMK founder S Ramadoss whether his son and Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss would resign from the Central government if the demand made to Reliance to close down its retail outlets within a month was not met.

Terming PMK's stand on MNCs as double standard, Kumaravel asked why did it not oppose them during a Cabinet meeting. 'This only shows that the PMK is trying to make political gains', he added.

Referring to the Corporation re-election, he said BJP's candidates would file separate cases against the malpractices that had taken place during the course of the bye-election. Initially, the party candidates were not allowed to file nomination and were even threatened to withdraw it. Later on the poll day, the ruling party indulged in violence, he added.

On the court verdict pronouncing death sentence for three AIADMK men in the Dharmapuri bus-burning case, the BJP leader questioned as to why the same political parties, which opposed capital punishment being given to Afzal in the Parliament attack case, maintained silence on the bus- burning case.
