Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd has launched its first auto LPG dispensing station in Coimbatore.
N S Ramu, general manager (retail), BPCL southern region inaugurated the station at Roots Auto Products Pv Ltd in the presence of K P Chandy, deputy general manager and R Somasundaram, territory manager.
Auto LPG is now permitted to be used in 4 wheelers and 3 wheelers and it will be dispensed in to tanks which are fixed on chassis and integral part of the car just like petrol or diesel and the tank capacities will vary from 5 litres to 60 litres.
The tanks will have all safety fittings making the use of LPG absolutely safe in vehicles. The performance of the car will be comparable to petrol and use of LPG as automotive fuel proves to be approximately 40 per cent cheaper compared to petrol as per prevailing price structure.
Bharat Petroleum has already commissioned one such LPG station in Erode and has planned to commission five more stations in Tiruppur and Coimbatore by March 2008.
The dispensing station has
been set up at a cost of Rs 75 lakh . Auto LPG is a popular fuel for use
in automobiles, world wide and have already proved itself to be economical,
safe and having combustion properties similar to that of petrol thus maintaining
the performance of petrol driven vehicles when converted to auto LPG.
