BE counselling across TN likely

        State Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy today said the government will consider to conduct counselling for professional courses in four places in the State like previous years, if the parents and students insists for it.

        Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, Ponmudy said the government decided to hold counselling only at Chennai to overcome confusion among the students.

        The counselling for engineering courses would begin from 9 July, while for medical admissions from 2 July, he said.

        Ponmudy said the DMK government decision to abolish CET was welcomed by the public this year and till date 87,600 applications for professional courses had been sold whereas in previous years only 65,000 applications were sold.
