| AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA |
A household name in Telugu in the small medium is Kalyani, with the added weight of a Nandi award in her maiden telefilm. Having had her fill to her heart's content, she is keen to make a decent foray in Tamil.
| Now rooted in Chennai,
she hopes to add meanings to the start in Thedal and the much revered Viswarupam
for Minbimbangal. A rape victim, the heaviness of the character sat light
in the way she handled the pressure factor.
'Caught in the turmoil of a traditional Brahmin family, the character of Gayatri could overcome the stigma and lead a normal life. Today, I am better known in that name, thanks to the huge impact of the mega serial and the stamp of approval it had on the viewers.' Prior to that, Kalyani had her first feel of a Tamil serial in the 12-episode Thedal. Her character merited the need of a proficient Bharatanatyam dancer. But convinced was the director Viduthalai, when Kalyani rolled her eyes to a serial-level height. 'I practised a few movements and with that costume on, it boiled to the level of slipping into the character. Possibly, I surprised myself, not to speak of the unit members.' Kalyani's early stroke to fame was in the Kannada serial Kavyanjali, playing the friend of Sitara to the conviction of director Upadhyay. Some neat work there paved way for the opening in the teleserial Stree Naisam and the booty of a Nandi award. Long before she had realised, the career-door for Kalyani had opened. When the big banner of Balaji Telefilms cast her in the Telugu serial - Kavyanjali again the name - Anjali spun such a web to arrest the attention of the homemakers. |

Awards and accolades - so early in the innings - has given her an enviable status. Next in the line is a Tamil serial for Makkal Television, to be directed by Viduthalai.
A linguist, Kalyani is keen to make a dent in Tamil serials. For the Telugu girl, language is the least of the hurdle, confronted with the challenge to dig deep.
She is game for the slice of her cake in the big screen.
