The Telugu population in Chennai is on the rise. To cater to them, Hotel Quality Inn Sabari has come up with a 10-day Andhra Food Festival, which began on 20 April.
At the fest, one can enjoy the rich delicacies from various districts of Andhra Pradesh, with seasonal herbs, native spices and a special menu arranged for a complete experience of the exotic cuisine of Andhra.
The festival included authentic and hot culinary treats like the famous Gongura pickle, Kandi Podi and Kobari Karam.
According to Ashok Kumar, executive chef, Quality Inn Sabari, ' we have carefully selected the menu for the fest. We have consciously avoided Hyderabadi menu since they are greatly influenced by the Nizam culture.
The buffet features items predominantly served in households of Andhra Pradesh. Cooks have been flown from Nellore and Guntur districts for this festival, he adds.
Among the non-vegetarian dishes, the Guntur Yata Kura (made with mutton) is a delight for taste-buds as also Khaima Iguru (Mutton kheema) which deserves mention.
Starting with Pappu Saru, the vegetarian spread includes Patani Bangala Dumpa Vepudu, Kakaarakkai Vepuduy, Perugu Pulusu and Masala Vadai.
The Pesaretu prepared in front of the guest and the array of desserts such as Pesaru Pappu Payasam, Poli and Bandar Ladoo, Kajji Kayalu goes well after a heavy meal.
Priced Rs 344, the dinner buffet will be on till 20 April.
