Chennai, Apr 23:
AIADMK today staged two separate walkouts in the Assembly protesting against the Speaker's refusal to allow them to bring in an adjournment motion and for not providing additional time to one of its member to speak on the demand respectively.
During zero hour, AIADMK Deputy Leader of Opposition O Panneerselvam tried to bring in an adjournment motion. However, the Speaker refused to grant permission which provoked the main opposition party to stage a walkout.
Speaking to presspersons outside the House, Panneerselvam said the party had sought the Speaker's permission to bring an adjournment motion on the threatening letter to former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition J Jayalalithaa. However, the Speaker did not grant permission.
Later AIADMK member P K Sekar Babu initiating a discussion on the demands for grants for Health and Family Welfare Department sought more time to complete his speech. The plea was turned down by the Speaker. Protesting the same, the AIADMK staged a second walkout.
The MDMK, an ally of the
AIADMK, also followed suit.
