        The government would take all possible steps to stop the 'evil forces' from destabilising the communal harmony, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said in the Assembly.

        MLAs Akri Krishnamoorthy (AIADMK), Gnanasekaran (Congress), Velmurugan (PMK), Govindaswamy (CPI-M)and Sivapunniyam (CPI) all raised their voice against vandalism of a Periyar Statue at Mutthupettai in Thiruvarur district and urged the government to take steps to prevent such actions in future.

        In his reply, the Chief Minister said that 'we should be ashamed of such acts' and called upon the people to fight against the evil forces.
