        Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has announced a solatium of Rs 1 lakh to the family of a journalist who died in harness.

        In a statement here, it was stated that Karunanidhi has sanctioned the solatium from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the welfare of the journalist Syed Ahmed's family, who worked for Manisudar in Vellore. He died in 2004.
