Adding one more feather to its cap, the St John's Educational Trust, in charge of the St John's Group of Schools, would now be providing Cambridge International Examination certification for students of its new St John's Cambridge School in Chennai.
The school, which will be registered with the Cambridge International Examination (CIE), will be offering a Cambridge primary programme, Cambridge checkpoint and Cambridge International general certification of secondary education for student in the age groups 5-11, 11-14 and 16-18 respectively.
CIE chief executive Ann Puntis, said that Cambridge was committed to providing world class education to international students. Over the years, it has significantly expanded its operations in India, owing to the huge demand for international education, she added.
She said around 1.5 million students register their entries every year and in Chennai as many as seven schools have registered under these courses for international certification.
Stating that around 4,500 schools were part of this Cambridge network, she said Cambridge has signed contracts with different governments and organisations in this connection.
CIE is part of the Cambridge Assessment Group, a voluntary organisation of the University of Cambridge, and is recognised in about 150 countries across the world, she said. St John's Cambridge School dean R Kishore Kumar said that the school had taken up the challenge of preparing its students for competing in the the global arena.
Talking about the curriculum,
he said that unlike the present pattern of examination in most schools,
Cambridge conducts a series of assessment tests to note how much the student's
knowledge has improved. 'It trains the students to meet international requirements.
The school will start functioning from this June,' he said.
