An art competition, organised by the US Consulate, was held recently to observe World Earth Day for school children to create environmental awareness. The art competition, based on the theme 'What is important to you about our environment?,' has as many as 47 entries from 15 schools on display at the Consulate, said a press release.

Tharani, US Consul General David Hopper, Consul (public affairs) Frederick
Kapalan and cultural affairs officer Ragini Gupta judged the South Indian
competition and selected six semifinalists for the national competition
to be held in Delhi. A painting of Aswhin, a student of Padma Seshadri
Bala Bhuvan School, was selected for the final round at US Department of
State, Washington D C, in the 12-13 years of age category.
