        'Education plays an important part in all aspects and is integral to the holistic growth of an individual, said J Uma Maheshwari, Director of Elementary Education while addressing the gathering at the annual day celebrations of the SRS Sarvodaya Institute held yesterday.

        She said, 'Good thoughts pave way for good deeds. Good thoughts have their origin in education. Education helps us distinguish between good and bad things.'

        She also said that students should make the best use of the facilities available to them. She advised students that they must be willing to lend a helping hand to all.

        Earlier, SRS Sarvodaya Institute students had performed dances, focusing on the unity and cultural diversity of India and the ill effects of drinking.

        SRS Sarvodaya Institute warden R Shanti, Tamil Nadu Harijan Sevak Sangh secretary R Srinivasan, eminent Gandhian C D V Raghavulu and the school's platinum jubilee committee member K S Babai were also present on the occasion.
