        SMILE, an organisation involved in social service activities celebrated 22 August as 'volunteers day' to celebrate the spirit of service and the volunteers involved in various social activities.

        This year the celebrations were held at the Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium. Cultural events which included dance and music recitals marked the festivities. A special highlight of the celebrations was the service day song, which brought out the message that every individual should do at least one service everyday. A short video clipping of the organisation's recent Peace and Prosperity Mission to Singapore and Malaysia was also screened on the occasion.
