Homeopathy is the last resort: Batra

       About 30 per cent of people suffering from chronic ailments prefer to leave it unattended and 51 per cent try home remedies braving serious consequences, according to a survey by AC Nielsen Study for Dr Batra's Positive Health Clinics.

      Announcing the findings which was released here yesterday, Dr Mukesh Batra, chairman and managing director, Dr Batra's Positive Health Clinics said the research was conducted to gauge the potential of the industry in the homeopathic sector. The research was carried out in seven cities in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chandigarh.

        Batra said that homeopathy is often approached as a last option, when all other treatments have failed. 'Due to this the duration of the treatment increases since the ailment reaches an advanced stage,' he added.

        The research also highlighted on the difference between conventional medicine and homeopathy. The research also notes that while 62 per cent of the current homeopathy users never tried allopathy, 82 per cent of the users are in a tendency of not to switch over to any other mode of treatment.

        In India, homeopathy marked is estimated at Rs 630 crore and is growing at the pace of 20-25 per cent annually. Dr Batra's health clinic also has plans to educate people on the importance of early treatment in chronic diseases.

        Batra also said that there are plans of launching two more clinics in Coimbatore. Currently there are 54 clinics spread across 16 cities in the country.
