Sir,
Chennai police Commissioner Nanchil Kumaran should be appreciated for his swift action of gearing up bankers to find a solution for the ATM-related incidents and the murder of a security personnel at Chepauk.
The CoP has really acted fast and quick. But the implementation lies in the hands of the bank authorities and it should be said that the security of banks and even ATMs don't seem to be on their priority list.
First of all many of the ATMs are not at all functioning properly. If you try to contact the officails concerned the reply will be an evasive one.
When an ATM is opened lot of pomp and show will be exhibited by all the bigwigs posing for photographs and video cameras but once when there are problems they are not available for solutions.
I can even specify a few banks where security is not in their top priority list.

Sir,
A court jester once sneaked behind the King and playfully pinched the royal bottom. The infuriated king ordered his head to be chopped off, but later relented saying if you can come up with a reasonable excuse for your impertinence, I will pardon you. The Jester said, 'Your Majesty, I thought it was the Queen.'
Ambassador Ronen Sen's 'Headless Chicken Excuse' brought this one to mind. Editorial hubris and impertinent Sarkar Lackeys are as common as flies on roadside feces in our land.
