St John's School triumphs

        St John's Senior Secondary School (Mandaveli) defeated St Joseph Cricket Academy (Sholinganallur) by two wickets to win the X-Mas under-14 trophy here recently.

        Batting first, St Joseph CA were bundled out for 63 in 22.3 overs as Vigneshwaran (4 for 14) and Bharatwaj (3 for 17) did the damage.

        In reply, St John's struggled to overhaul the small total put up by their rivals and stuttered to 64 for 8 in 16.3 overs thanks to K B Vignesh's pugnacious 25 not out.

        Vigneshwaran and Bharatwaj won special awards for best bower and best performance respectively.

        Scores: St Joseph CA 63 all out in 22.3 overs (Vigneshwaran 4 for 14, Bharatwaj 3 for 17) lost to St John's 64 for 8 in 16.3 overs (K B Vignesh 25 n.o).
