Chennai students top in CBSE

K Vijay Kumar and Rohini greeted by their parents for securing
top ranks in the class XII CBSE examination.

        The Plus Two results for CBSE schools were declared across the country today with Chennai zone scoring an overall pass percentage of 91.38. Girls with 92.68 per cent outshone boys who had a pass percentage of 90.35. A total of 4,943 students from 1,450 schools appeared for the examination held in March for Chennai zone comprising Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashta, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Daman.

        In Tamilnadu alone, Plus Two students from 174 schools wrote the public examinations, while students from 90 schools in Chennai sat for the board exams. The pass percentage in Tamilnadu was 96.40 compared to last year's 94.79 percentage. The pass percentage of girls was 97.49 and boys 95.62.

        K Vijay Kumar of DAV Boys SS School, Gopalapuram, secured the first rank by scoring 490 (out of 500) in the Chennai region, with a centum in Engineering Drawing. A native of Thiruvarur, Vijay wants to pursue his career in the field of Electronic Engineering by studying in a reputed college in Tamilnadu.

        Nisha Hariharan of PS SS School, Mylapore, bagged the second mark with 489 and Rohini of DAV Girls SS School, Gopalapuram, secured third rank 488 with a centum in Mathematics.

        Rohini attributed her success to the blessings of the God and the guidance provided by parents. She wants be a researcher in Astrophysics by studying in Madras or Bombay IIT.
