        The 19-day Vasantha Vizha celebration of Sri Kandaswamy Temple Vasantha Mandapa Trust, at Park Town began yesterday.

        Briefing on the preparations to reporters, C R Palanidas, senior trustee at the temple, said, ' Vasantha Vizha is being celebrated here every year since 1938.

        This year too, various programme like spiritual discourses, divine musical concerts, pattimandram, Villupattu and so many other programmes are scheduled during the 19-day celebration'.

        Besides other programmes, on 29 May, Kalaimamani Sirkazhi G Sivasidambaram and his troupe would stage a divine musical concert, and the programme would be presided over by industrialist Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty.

        A special Bharathanatyam dance on Kandakottam would be presented on 31 May at 6 pm by Nellai Arulmani, and it would be followed by another Bharathanatyam performance by Muthukumaraswamy, Uma Maheswari and Renuka Rani. On 5 June, musical heir of Tamil divine songs- fame K P Sundarambal, Kovai Kamala, with her troupe, would present a spiritual evening on 'Kandakotta Murugan and divine music'.
