LIC staff celebrate

        Members of the National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India (NFIFWI) have urged the chairman of Life Insurance Corporation to redress the grievances of thousands of development officers.

        Briefing reporters here yesterday, NFIFWI South zone president Jacob C Kusumalayam said the developmental officers were facing hardship due to certain norms of the management which would make their job security uncertain. 'Taking into consideration our plights, the management has to repeal its threat of terminating the services of DOs who fail to fulfill certain targets,' said Kusumalayam. He also said that job security have to be extended to these field staff at the LIC.

        NFIFWI pleaded for restoring the earlier benefits and incentive bonus (IB) which were reduced of late to the field staff. Giving details on the 24th Biennial Council of LIC South zone which is being held at Chennai Trade Centre, he said nearly 1,000 delegates would participate in the two-day event.

        'We have also organised a function to celebrate the golden jubilee of NFIFWI to coincide with the Biennial Council today which will be attended by high-level dignitaries,' he said. State Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy inaugurated the golden jubilee fete of NFIFWI.
