        Chennai racers Aditya Patel and Gaurav Dalal shared honors in the premium Formula Rolon category on qualifying day of the fifth round of the J K Tyre National Racing Championship 2007 which got underway at the Madras Motor Race Track at Irungattukottai.

        Earlier Karthik Shankar and Saran Vikram hogged the limelight in Formula and Formula Swift classes respectively. Missing in action at the track was the racing squad from Sri Lanka who have decided to skip this round. They will back in action for the final round.

        Aditya Patel of Team NK Racing and Gaurav Dalal pf Team Amaron WSRF achieved the fastest laps of 01:46:752 and 01:47:246 for race 1 and race 2 respectively in the Formula Rolon category.

        Gaurav took the 2nd slot while Ajay Kini of Team WSRF will start from third place in race 1.

        Race 2 will see Aditya Patel start in 2nd place and Rayomand Banajee in 3rd place. Delhi racer Karthik Shankar of Team WSRF with Leela came up with a dominating performance to capture double pole positions in the Formula Hyundai category. Karthik had the fastest lap timings of 01:58:435 and 01:58:556 for Race 1 and Race 2 respectively. Starting in 2nd and 3rd places for both races in this class will be the duo from Team Gemini Racing Rayomand Banajee and Anand Prasad respectively.

        Formula Hyundai Championship leader and Chennai's young racing sensation Ashwin Sunder of Team Rams Racing had a disastrous session as the gears of his vehicle failed forcing him out of the qualifiers, Ashwin will now start from 9th place on the grid.

        In Formula Swift category it was last year's champion and Chennai lad Saran Vikram from Team WSRF with Leela who made it to the top of the grid for both races. Saran had the fastest lap timings of 01:55:194 and 01:55:343 respectively. Karthik Shankar of Team WSRF with Leela and championship leader Ashwin Sunder of Rams Racing will start in 2nd and 3rd places in both races.
