Adding one more to premium sedan range is auto major Daimler-Chrysler, the manufacturer of Mercedes Benz. The company has come out with S-class and C-class targeting the southern market.
Launching the new car segment at a function held in the city recently, Dr Wilfred Aulbur, managing director and CEO said that south Indian market is very significant for them since the sales graph is showing an upward trend. Hence, the company will continue to focus this area.
Referring to sales figures, he said last year Mercedes Benz recorded a sale of 2,100 vehicles against last year figure. And th growth is 11 per cent.
'During the first quarter
of 2007, the company sold 27,400 vehicles with a major chunk of customers
opting for S Class and M Class,' Aulbur said adding that about 690 vehicles
were sold in the Indian market. As far as S-Class is concerned, about 100
units were sold while in E Class and C Class, 350 and 230 units have been
sold respectively. Shedding light on the new brand, he said the CL-class
which is the seventh generation vehicle, is a very good example in the
luxury coupe segment.
