Chennai, Apr 24:
'IT professionals suffer from various sexual ailments due to lifestyle changes, high stress levels and odd working hours,' said sexual medicine consultant Dr Narayana Reddy, while addressing a press conference yesterday.
Dr Reddy was bestowed the Life Time achievement Gold Medal Award for his pioneering work in the field of sexual health in India by the World Association for Sexology at the 18th World Congress of Sexology, held in Sydney, Australia, recently.
Hailing the 'client-refer-client attitude' a good sign, Dr Reddy said that now many more people were visiting hospitals to get their doubts on sex clarified and seeking proper counselling and medication.
He was also in favour of including sex education in the school curricula. He said religious organisations had opposed it without knowing the contents of the programme.
He lamented the fact that
qualified medical professionals were not showing interest in specialising
in sexology. And the number of quacks is on the increase, he added.
