        A friend of a secondhand car dealer stole Rs 1.50 lakh in cash from the dealer and landed in jail.

        According to police, Yusuf and Kaja Fakruddin used to come from Karaikal to Chennai to buy old cars and drive back for sale in Karaikal. They stayed at Pudupet, Chennai, and indulged in the trade.

        On 14 August, Yusuf brought the cash Rs 1.5 lakh from Karaikal to buy cars here. Next day, the cash was reportedly stolen by Kaja as he was missing, so was the amount. Yusuf lodged a complaint with Egmore police against Kaja, who was arrested at Parrys Corner and cash Rs 1. 30 recovered from him as the balance was already spent by the accused.
