        Coast Guard is to organise an awareness mela 'Flip per Fest' 07' at Loyola College on 1 and 2 September.

        Announcing this in a press release issued here, A K S Panwar, Commandant Chief Staff Officer (Aviation) Headquarters of Indian Coast Guard Region (East). said South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme (SACEP) under United Nations Environment Programme had declared 16 September as the International Coastal Clean-up Day.

        He said the Coast Guard, in association with NIOT, Loyola College and Tree Foundation, would launch a massive awareness campaign to highlight the importance of clean seas and beaches.

        This year, about 100 educational institutions would take part in the exercise and in the various competitions.

        The competition includes painting, poster and quiz competition highlighting the importance of conserving the marine bio-diversity.
