Sir,
In all fairness, it should be the Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat who should be the next President of India. He is said to be a good and friendly person, who has no enemies.
Moreover he showed his magnanimity when he willingly offered to step aside for Dr Kalam, should the latter decide to run for a second term.
The scheming UPA chairperson Sonia Maino Gandhi seems to be having some dark plans, for which she wants to use Pratibha Patil.
That seems to be the reason why she insulted Dr Kalam by rejecting to back him up. In the interest of the nation, Shekhawat should be elected President, rather than a controversial Patil, who will be an embarassment to India.
G Vijayalakshmi,
Sir
It is almost certain that Prathiba Patil will succeed Abdul Kalam, as the President of India. People will be wondering as to who is the 'Super Rubber Stamp - Manmohan or Prathiba.
If we analyse the past records , it is certain, Manmohan will win hands down. He will go down in the annals of Indian History, as the Super Rubber Stamp, Prathiba coming a close second.
N Mohan,
Thiruvanmiyur
Sir
People's representatives should respect people's wishes and re-elect Dr Kalam as President. Pratibha can be elected as Vice-President now and President for the next term.
If Mahatma Gandhi was alive he would have supported Dr Kalam. Those who have conscience will back Dr Kalam, the darling of the masses.
V Kalyanam,
