        State Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi would preside over a two-day review meeting of the Information and Public Relations department that would begin tomorrow.

        Various welfare schemes and projects announced by the Chief Minister including a kg rice for Rs 2, low-priced pulses and edible oils distributed through PDS outlets, free colour TV scheme, land for the poor and landless farm labour, 3 eggs in a week at noon-meal centres, financial assistance for pregnant women, free gas stove and distribution of pattas would come up for detailed review at the conclave.

        How to overcome the problems for the welfare schemes to reach out and benefit the people at large by identifying the bottlenecks in channeling information would be discussed at length and PROs in district offices of Information department would be given suitable instructions on ways to function effectively for the public to enjoy the benefits of the welfare schemes of the government.

        Also, the PRO heads at the district offices would be told to effectively use the electronic gadgets at their disposal for spreading the benefits of a slew of welfare projects. Higher officials of the Information Department, district PROs and their assistants would participate at the two-day meeting to be presided by Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi.
