Members of the victorious Tiruchi men's team receiving the trophy from Dr P Maruthamuthu, Vice-Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University.

        Tiruchi and Chennai won the men's and women's titles respectively in the 5th Senior State Throwball Championship held at Thirupuvanam, Madurai district, recently.

        In the men's section, Tiruchi beat Coimbatore 15-9 , 15-12 for the title while Karur defeated Chennai 15-8, 15-8 to take the third place.

        In the women section, Chennai became champions for the fifth consecutive year, beating Tiruchi 15-11, 16-14. For the third place, Krishnagiri beat Thiruvallur 15-8, 15-5.

        P Maruthamuthu, Vice-Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University, gave away the prizes in the presence of Jayamani, senior sports officer, SDAT and K Rajasekaran, president, Madurai District Throwball Association.

        T Bala Vinayakam, general secretary, Tamilnadu Throwball Association, welcomed the gathering.
