        What started as a hobby has now become a profession for S Kavitha who is the grand daughter of renowed poet-lyricist Kannadasan.

        With a passion to make a mark in the artistic world, Kavitha has showcased her skill in the form of paintings and murals at an exhibition titled 'Colors of Life' at C P Art Centre, Alwarpet.

        Talking to NewsToday, she said, 'after doing my undergraduation in Computer Science, I went on to study diploma in Fine Arts at the Institute of Design, Nungambakkam. With a diploma in her hand, Kavitha has tried her best to display her talent and now painting has now become a 'profession' rather than a 'hobby' for her.

        Kavitha, daughter of 'Kanmani' Subbu and Sulochana said that she had done lot of paintings as a pasttime. 'I had a special place interest for painting and after completing my graduation, I wanted to concentrate more on that,' she said.

        'I am used to doing all forms of paintings, be it acrylic, oil or water colour. I take time to focus more on the presentation,' she said, adding that the 'Radha Krishna' in dancing form and the Tanjore painting took 15 days to create.

        About 60 paintings by the young artist were displayed at the venue. The two-day exhibition (which ends later today) was formally inaugurated by managing partner of AVM Studios AVM Saravanan.

        Actress and president of Film and Television Producers Guild of South India G Jayachithra was also present during the inauguration Tuesday.

        The works done by Kavitha are also up for sale and they range from Rs 40 to Rs 7,000.
