Two incidents of chain snatching from Avadi and Tiruninravur by motorcyle-borne gang since last night have created a scare among the womenfolk in these two areas.
Geetha, 40, a resident of Gandhi Nagar at Avadi and wife of Sreenivasan, was on the way to her sister's house after locking her house when a group of helmet-wearing riders on motorcyles relieved her of six sovereign chain from the neck and sped away. Following a complaint lodged by Geetha, the inspector at Avadi Police station Mani filed a case and further enquiry is on.
In a similar incident, Durga, 30, living at Murugesan Nagar in Tiruninravur and wife of Gajendran, was taking a walk at about 6.45 pm to reach her mother's house located on the next street. A group of unidentified persons wearing helmet came riding on motorcyles and snatched a chain worth 12-sovereign to escape from the scene.
Immediately, Durga lodged
a complaint at Tiruninravur Police station where inspector Ramesh filed
a case and took it up for investigation.
