The State Planning Commission has instituted an award for the best feature article published in the registered newspapers (excluding magazines).
According to a press release, the article should be on human development regarding programmes for the improvement of education, health and nutrition, poverty alleviation, employment generation and gender empowerment. Articles regarding best practices in villages in these fields will also be considered.
The articles of at least 900 words published during the period October 2006 - September 2007 are eligible for the award. Three prizes each for articles in English and Tamil will be awarded.
The entries would be selected by a jury appointed by the State Planning Commission.
The entries will be forwarded
to the Member Secretary, State Planning Commission, Chepauk by 31 October.
