He dons many roles

        V C Jayamani became a well known face in the small screen after the megahit serial Metti Oli which made everybody switch to Sun TV at 9 pm. He played the role of father for the character Ravi in the successful serial.

        The multi-faceted personality entered the tinsel town with the aim to become a hero but fate had other designs for him. He became an assistant director in 1968 and worked in movies like Brahmacharigal, Adikari etc.

        Jayamani being an all-time artist was associated with the glamour world in one way or the other. After working as an assistant director in films, Jayamani went on to direct TV serials on Door-darshan. Some of the TV serials he directed are Ladies Hostel, Neithin Kangal, Mr Vedanthan and many more.

        'I have directed more than 25 TV serials. I always liked to convert novels written by great authors into the form of drama. I also played cameos in my own direction', says Jayamani.

        'Director Thirumurugan who directed Metti oli saw one of my serials where I acted with Vaishnavi. He was impressed with my acting and offered me a meaty role in Metti Oli which won me wide appreciation', adds Jayamani.

        Though his native place is a small hamlet in Ramanathapuram district, Jayamani was born and brought up in Burma. In 1964, he came to India as a refugee.

        'My maternal uncle was a stage singer and he was a great inspiration for me. He wanted me to become a singer but I became a director',says the actor.

        Jayamani has acted in many plays like Mundanai Muduchu, Malargal, Roja , Nimmathi, Pasam, Aasai and many more.

        'I have played a cameo in the Dhanush starrer Polladhavan. I am ready with a script and I want to direct a film. My focus is on that now.' he says.

        Jayamani has many feathers to his cap. He is a writer, artist, dubbing artist and a director. 'I keep accepting the offers which come to me. I am also deeply interested in spirituality and I give spiritual discourses' says the man who wants to make a mark as a director.
