        A mini lorry driver was instrumental in apprehending a car driver, who was smuggling liquor bottles from neighbouring Puducherry to Chennai.

        The lorry was on its way to Chennai from Kovalam when a speeding car from behind brushed past it while overtaking near East Coast Road. The lorry driver gave a hot chase. And the car came to halt at Netco Colony since it was a cul-de-sac. The lorry driver, while questioning the car driver, found that the vehicle was loaded with liquor bottles.

        On information, police arrested the car driver Palani. Officials are investigating as to how the liquor-laden car could have crossed the police checkposts on the ECR.
