Chennai, Dec 27:
Chairman of Indian Monument Manufacturers Association (IMMA) R Veeramani has urged the government to liberalise the policies on mining as the variety of stones found in India was unmatched by any other country and the sector has a huge potential that lies untapped.
Briefing the press on the 3rd IMMA Stone Fair 2007 to be held in Chennai Trade Centre from 4 to 7 January 2007, Veeramani said the fair would be inaugurated by Chief Minister of Tamilnadu M Karunanidhi on 3 January. Japanese Consulate General for Southern India Yoshiaki Kodaki and the Minister of Mines and Geology and Information Technology, Andhra Pradesh, P Sabitha Reddy would also be present on the occasion.
The exhibition would be having 189 stalls and foreign companies from Spain, Italy, China and Japan participating.
The fair is an effort by
the organisers to give exposure to Indian stone monuments by focusing on
the needs and offerings of the industry.
