        Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekar Reddy has announced that Krishna water will be opened from Kandarelu Dam to Chennai from 3 August.

        In a letter written to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, a copy of which was released to the media, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said that he had instructed the chief engineer to release the water under the Telugu Ganga Project to meet the drinking water scarcity in Chennai.

        It may be noted that Karunanidhi had written a letter on 20 July requesting Rajasekar Reddy to take steps to release water.
