of Bommalattam in Chennai today.

Popular Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is waiting to know his fate in the case relating to the 1993 Mumbai blasts, today received support from Tamil film personalities, who condemned the betting being carried out on the quantum of punishment he might receive.

Speaking at the audio launch of Bommalattam, directed by K Bharathiraja, veteran film director K Balachander said, 'reading media reports about the betting going on about the punishment to be given to Sanjay Dutt has shocked me.'

'I don't want to go in to the details. However, what has upset me is the betting being carried out in this regard, since Sanjay Dutt happens to be an actor.' It is not a healthy trend, said Balachander.

Echoing Balachander's views, actor Kamal Haasan said he was dismayed at such reports appearing in a section of the media. He also said he regretted not contacting Dutt during his tough times. South India Film Chamber president KRG, actors Nepolean, Vijayakumar and veteran director S P Muthuraman among others also spoke.
