Third-seeded Ram S Krishnan of BSNL, Chennai, heads the field with a 100 per cent record at the end of the 7th round in the 55th Tamilnadu State Chess Championship, being conducted at Kodai Institute of Technology, Kodaikanal.

GM-elect G B Prakash, International Master S P Sethuraman, Arun Karthik of Chennai, Premnath of Kanchi and Vinoth Kumar of Chennai share the second spot with six points each.

International Master R R Laxman made short work of M J Noohu of Chennai to move to 6.5 points.

K Sankaranarayanan of MAL, Chennai, is the giant killer and has so far caused many upsets over internationally-rated players. He is topping the list of unrated players with five points.

The top four players from this championship will qualify to represent Tamilnadu in the 45th National 'B' Chess Championship to be held at Dindigul from 10 June.
