'The future of the DMK and its president M Karunanidhi is bleak. And the time is ripe for AIADMK cadres to work for the welfare of common man,' said former Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa.
She was speaking at AIADMK functionaries' family marriage function at Vanagaram on the outskirts of Chennai today.
Referring to the family fued in the ruling DMK, Jayalalithaa said that future was bleak for DMK party as well as its leader M Karunanidhi and added that AIADMK had now got a golden opportunity to effect changes in the political scene and work for people's welfare.
Taking a dig at Karunanidhi, she said that DMK leader instead of showing any interest for people's welfare is very keen to protect his seat and the well-being of his family members.
The State is now in a shambles with a breakdown in the law and order situation following the Madurai episode which claimed three precious lives.
'Heir politics has taken deep roots in DMK,' she said and added that people have seen for themselves and would certainly teach Karunanidhi a fitting lesson during the next elections.
'Both Karunanidhi's family TV and newspaper made false propaganda about me,' Jayalalithaa said and added he (Karunanidhi) derived joy over it. But now tables been turned against him with infighting within his family following the publication of an opinion survey in Dinakaran projecting M K Stalin as Karunanidhi's heir while ditching M K Azhagiri.
Earlier, Jayalalithaa solemnised the marriages of six couples belonging to the families of AIADMK former Minister B Valarmathi, former MP O S Manian, Tiruchi Mariam Pichai, Vijaya Vijayakumar.
Welcome arches, colourful festoons, party flags and banners were put up at Vanagaram and AIADMK cadres led by Maduravoyal Town Secretary M P Thendral Kumar extended a warm welcome to Jayalalithaa on her arrival.
AIADMK former Ministers,
MPs, MLAs, district party functionaries and scores of cadres were present
at the marriage function.
