A thief got away with cash, cellphone from the house of a postal employee at Madhavaram on the city outskirts yesterday when the house owner bolted the front door of his house when he spotted the robber stealing.
According to police, Murthy
(52), a postal employee of Ponniammanmedu Srinivasa Nagar at Madhavaram,
had left for a nearby temple by locking his house. On his return after
a while, he found the doors latched from the inside and a robber engaged
in stealing. He immediately bolted the door in the front and raised an
alarm. When neighbours gathered, the robber took away Rs 1,500 in cash
and cellphone and made good his escape via the back entrance. A complaint
has been lodged with the Madhavaram police in this connection.
