        Fire broke out in a packaging unit at Ambattur Industrial Estate this morning and gutted properties before a dozen fire tenders rushed in to bring normalcy at the site.

        Alerted by security staff, a fire tender arrived quickly to douse the flames which spread across the company. Ten more fire tenders were rushed in from Koyambedu, Avadi, K K Nagar and Villivakkam to extinguish the flames and only after three hours, they were able to put down the fire.

        Power supply was cut at the site in and around the company as a precautionary measure. Large number of boxes, chemicals and machinery were gutted completely. It is suspected a possible short circuit or faulty internal wiring may be the reason for the fire mishap. However foul play is not ruled out.
