A PMK Councillor of Pammal Panchayat was detained by police for attacking a journalist, who had been to cover a function at Pammal in which State Local Administration M K Stalin took part this morning.
According to reports, the scribe was on his way to attend the function organised to launch a project to manufacture natural manure by M K Stalin. When the scribe reached Pammal, Parasuraman, a PMK ward Four Councillor of Pammal Panchayat, along with a local DMK functionary Sridhar intercepted him. They made enquiries about him. When the reporter of the English daily gave his name, the Councillor, for whatever reason, reportedly went into a fit of rage. The DMK activist also entered into a verbal due with the reporter. The two also reportedly assaulted him.
Following the attack, the
reporter lodged a complaint with Sankar Nagar sub-inspector Needhi Rajan
accompanied by other scribes. Parasuraman was detained by the police and
a search is on for Sridhar. The journos boycotted the function in protest
against the attack.
