Pasumai Thayagam founder Ramdoss today urged the State government to set up a separate department to look into the plights of Tamils working abroad.
Speaking at a seminar on 'Migrant workers—concern and solution' organised by Peace Trust and Pasumai Thayagam, he said the department under retired civil servants would help the migrants workers who are in distress.
Moreover, the department would have an access to foreign embassies.
He demanded both the Centre and the State to come out with advertisements on fraudulent agents involved in landing migrant workers in trouble.
Coming down heavily on officers in Indian embassies abroad, he said that the Tamil speaking officers should be posted in the foreign embassies to help the Tamils working there.
