Expo on printing, publishing industry

For the first time, Chennai will host Infra Expo, a global exposition on trends and practices in the printing and publishing industry. The three-day mega event is a joint effort between Infra India and Indian Newspaper Society. And the venue is Nandambakkam Trade Centre. Reiner Mittelbach, chief executive officer, Infra, Germany and Aamot will inaugurate the expo.
As many as 100 leading suppliers to the newspaper and media industry have confirmed participation at the expo. Interestingly, this is more than triple the number usually recorded at Infra India's annual conference-cum -exhibition.
Magdoom Mohamed, executive director, Infra India, said the exhibition is held for the first time outside Europe. Looking at the media boom and the growth of economy in India, the destination to conduct the exhibition was chosen.
About 600 delegates are expected to participate at the event and a galaxy of speakers from within the country and abroad will share their experience at the technical and publishers forums. Kjell Aamot,president and CEO, will deliver the keynote address that would focus on publishing houses as content providers to consumers and advertisers.
Ifra Expo India 2007 will showcase offerings from world's top suppliers to the media industry, R V Rajan, managing director, Ifra India told reporters yesterday. 'Infra Expo India will provide Indians the experience of visiting a world class expo right here. For more than 14 years, Infra has followed the development of newspaper business in our country and it is only natural that it has chosen India as the first destination for organising an exclusive exhibition on newspaper printing and publishing,' he added.
Leading suppliers such as Adobe, Baldwin, Cerutti Spa, Fuji Photo Film, Kodak, Siemens Information, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nippon Color, QuadTech, among others will come up with stalls.
Running concurrently with Infra Expo, the 15th annual conference will be held Other attractions include a future newsroom, Newsplex, and an exhibition on the 400 year old history of printing. It will also have solution park, a professional knowledge sharing platform where speakers will highlight the products, processes, solutions and market trends in the publishing and media industry.
Exhibition will be open to visitors from 2 pm to 6 pm on day one and 10 am to 4 pm on other days. Entry is free for printers, publishers, production executives from newspapers and advertising agencies, software domain specialists, and students and faculty members from printing institutes.
