Tension prevailed at Petite Seminaire School
near Uppalam here today following a telephonic call that a bomb would go
off on the school premises.
According to police, an anonymous phone call, received by a staff member in the school at 7.30 am, said a bomb had been planted in the school. Another call was received warning the school authorities that the bomb would explode soon. This sent panic waves among the staff and students of the institution. Odhiyansalai police rushed to the spot and personnel from the bomb-detection squad and sniffer dogs were pressed into service. A thorough search was carried out, and the call turned out to be hoax. The students were taken to a nearby playground for safety and a holiday was declared. Search is on to trace the caller. |
