        AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa has today demanded the immediate release of her party workers, who were arrested during the protest demonstration on the Kusasthalai sand mining issue.

        In a statement here, the AIADMK chief alleged that false cases were foisted on 82 of her party functionaries including former Ministers Semmalai and V Somasundaram and legislator Tiruttani Hari who led an agitation yesterday protesting indiscriminate sand mining in Kusasthalai riverbed, near Vidayur in Tiruvallur district. Jayalalithaa slammed the DMK government and demanded the release of cadres.
