The Indian Fine Arts Society will be organising its platinum jubilee celebrations and South Indian music conference and festival on 15 December, 5.30 pm, at Balamandir German Hall, T Nagar.
Rajya Sabha MP Karan Singh will preside. Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti will preside over the valedictory function of the festival on 4 January, 2008, at 6 pm at the same venue.
The Mylapore Fine Arts Club has decided to confer the title, Sangeetha Kala Nipuna on T V Sankar anarayanan on 12 December, on the inaugural day of its 56th art festival.

Admert Medical Centre will organise a free physiotherapy assessment and counselling camp from Friday through Sunday on its premises at Aminjikarai. Walk-in timings are from 8 am to 4 pm on Friday and Saturday and until 1 pm on Sunday.
People suffering from back, neck, shoulder, knee and joint aches can attend the camp, said a press release.
Gearing up for NTSE

Preparation courses for the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) will be conducted by the Nehru Children's Cultural Association at PS Higher Secondary School, Mylapore, on weekends.
The courses includes field trips to Survey of India (Maps and Topography), Devadoss Observatory, Geological Survey of India, National Institute of Ocean Technology, Directorate of Geology and Mining, Meteorological Centre and Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Wedding bells in the family of music composer Deva. Saritha, daughter of Murali, (Deva's brother) will get married to Vijayendran on 31 August here.
Murali has composed music for movies including Adaikalam, Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Ammuvagiya Naan, Samuthiram, Adaikalam among other films.
A grand reception would be held on 2 September in which who's who of Tamil cinema would take part.

Dutch students visit Kodai

A group of six students from Over Betuwe College, Bemmel (Netherlands), a Dutch school, spent a month at Kodaikanal International School (KIS), as part of the exchange programme between the KIS and the Dutch school.
The students attended classes and took part in extra curricular activities of the KIS. A guided tour around South India including Mahabalipuram exposed them to the ancient culture, heritage and history of the Southern part of India.
As part of the Dutch experience, six students of the KIS (comprising two Koreans and four Indians) left for Netherlands recently and would be spending a month there, a press release said.
Music fest

The Oothukadu Venkatakavi Academy Trust, Mylapore, is organising a six-day music and dance festival from 28 September to 3 October at the Dakshinamurthi auditorium in commemoration of the 307th birth anniversary of Venkata Subbaiyer.
The Trust will also conduct vocal and flute competitions on 30 September at the venue. Children aged between 6 and 17 years may participate.
The programme includes musical
discourses by Alamelu Dr Subaraman and Kousalya Sivakumar, concerts by
several musicians and dance.
