P Rajendran, a 1973 batch IPS officer, is the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Tamilnadu.
He will succeed D Mukherjee, who is retiring tomorrow. Joining the police in 1973, Rajendran was posted as Additional Superindent of police at Tuticorin.
He had served as SP, Ramanathapuram and Madurai for some time before moving to Food Corporation of India as manager, Vigilance, for the entire Southern Region.
Rajendran was the Chief Vigilance Officer, Neyveli Lignite Corporation for a number of years. He was elevated to the DGP cadre few months back.
Rajendran was the recipient
of State Police medal and President's medal for meritorious service.
