Failure of the UPA govt

        Sir,

According to a daily, 'Militant Muslim politicians, often encouraged by mainstream parties, gaining ground and the South is becoming a recruiting hub for terror.' The twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad has exposed the miserable failure of the State government in providing security to the people. The perpetuators of the 18 May blast in Mecca Masjid in which a dozen worshippers were killed have not been traced.

It is shameful for the Andhra Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to say that the State police lacks the wherewithal to gather intelligence about attacks planned by international network of terrorists.

He should know that the bombs were made in Andhra Pradesh, placed in public places by local terrorists to kill the maximum number of innocent people. By pleading helplessness, the Chief Minister has abdicated his responsibility of providing security for the people of the State. However, he is only articulating what the UPA government stands for - helplessness.

The UPA government has only hollow words of condemnation, it lacks courage and political will to curb terrorism simply because it wants to be soft to a particular community. One leader even stated that of the 42 victims, 11 were Muslims which shows that terrorism knows no religion. He is wrong because terrorists do know religion - are abetted and invigorated by religion and have a goal of creating instability in the country. But terror victims know no religion they are innocent people.

India has become a breeding ground for terrorists because terrorism is abetted by the political parties for the sake of votes. By such a stand the political leaders give the impression that the Muslim community as a whole abets terrorism which is wrong.

The Home Minister has said that information on the plot was in bits and pieces. Does he expect to get a blueprint of the plot from the terrorists? The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wants a permanent relief fund for terror victims which means he is conceding to the fact that we are going to have permanent terrorist attacks. All these point to the fact that the people cannot expect security from the UPA government. The people have a right to know what kind of mechanism has been put in place to counter terrorism.

It is a tragedy that we have a government and a political class which cannot rise above caste and religion provide security for its people and safeguard the nation's honor, which is prepared to sacrifice the lives of innocent people for power.

Usual blah, blah...

        Sir,

It is sad that 40 precious lives had been lost due to the barbaric act of lunatic fundamentalists in Hyderabad. The government this time has blamed Harkat ul Jihad-al Islami, instead of blaming some three-letter organizations, like Let, MET, PET etc, for a change. As usual, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, will give a clarion call that the perpetrators of this dastardly act will be punished - giving Afzal Guru, a hearty laugh.

Our media, will praise the resilence of Hyderabadians the same way, they praised the resilence of Mumbaikars, Delhiites, Varanasians, Coimbatorians, etc.

After sometime, the electronic media will show an odd milkman or a postman and will conclude, everything is back to normal. The thunder will die down in 15 days and the whole incident will be forgotten. The same routine will start, after the next terrorist attack. Long live Bharat.
