        Members of various organisations got together at AVM Rajeswari Kalyana Mandapam, here, yesterday to felicitate industrialist N Mahalingam for having received 'Padmabhushan' award.

        Mahalingam, chairman, Sakthi Group of Companies, after receiving a memento on the occasion, said, 'the younger generations should follow Gandhian ideals and live in unity.'

        Annamalai University Pro-Chancellor M A M Ramaswamy, in his address, congratulated Mahalingam for getting the award. He said Mahalingam's achievements had made proud the State and he would be an inspiration to all.

        Chief Commissioner of Income Tax C R Ravichandran, in his speech, lauded Mahalingam for his service.

        'Mahalingam is known for his honesty and he is a highly spiritual person. He is a great follower of Gandhian principles'.

        President of Sri Ramakrishna Math Swami Gauthamananda,in his presidential address, said, 'what we need is knowledge at the international-level with Indian tradition and customs. A person with spiritual qualities always shines better and are proud possessions of our country', he said.

        Industrialist Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetti, lyricist Vali, former Vice-Chancellor of Tanjore Tamil University Avvai Natarajan also spoke on the occasion.
