Naidu promises to form Third Front

Tirupati, May 30:

Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu appears not to have lost patience and hope in forming a third front as an alternative to the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party in the country. For he gave a strong indication that his party would take the lead in forming a third front.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting at S V University Stadium last evening on the eve of the concluding day of the three-day TDP's silver jubilee celebration 'Maha Nadu'.

According to Naidu, the recent verdict given by the people of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections itself is clinching evidence that the people have lost faith in the Congress and BJP and that people were looking at only regional parties while rejecting national parties, he said.

The TDP leader came down heavily on Congress party by saying that Sonia Gandhi and her whole family campaigned on each lane and bylane for the Uttar Pradesh elections in spite of which people rejected the party. 'This is a clear indication of the anti-poor policies being implemented by the UPA government led by the Congress at the Centre,' he added.

Naidu alleged that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and his family were looting the wealth of the State. He termed the free power scheme being implemented in the State was a farce and it had only benefitted the business community supporting the Congress.

The entire 'Maha Nadu' programme of the TDP had given priority to regain faith from the party cadre and to stress the point that it had not ignored its party founder N T Rama Rao.

During the programme, Naidu struck a sentimental note by stating that 'he has no desires except to remain in the hearts of the Telugu people similar to his father- in- law N T Rama Rao who lived his entire life for the common man'.

Speaking on the occasion, Nandamuri Hari Krishna, son of TDP founder- president Rama Rao, appealed to the party cadre to unite and work for the realisation of the dreams and objectives of his father.
